Can you guess which 20 real estate markets were declared the hottest markets in the U.S. in June of 2015? Can you guess how many of those are in California?
These hottest markets were identified by Realtor.com in a recently completed market study. Here’s how they conducted the study. The premise is that where demand is greatest, the market is hottest. Realtor.com is a real estate listing website that syndicates listings from all U.S. multiple listings services. The Guthrie Group’s listings are on there by the way.
The study included a review of the number of listing views relative to the number of listings in 300 of the largest U.S. markets. The more views, the more people are interested in that market. Secondly, they studied the median number of days houses spent on the market in each area. From this, they identified the 20 hottest markets in the U.S.
If you guessed there are 7 of these hottest markets in California, you were right. I’ll bet you’re going to be surprised at some of the ones that showed up! Here they are in order:
1. San Francisco, CA
2. Vallejo, CA (Yes! That’s right!)
3. Denver, CO (Knocked out of previous 1st place)
4. Santa Rosa, CA
5. Dallas, TX
6. San Jose, CA
7. Ann Arbor, MI
8. Boston, MA
9. Detroit, MI (How about that?)
10. Santa Cruz, CA
11. Sacramento, CA
12. San Diego, CA
13. Fargo, ND
14. Billings, MT
15. Columbus, OH
16. Stockton, CA (This just blew my mind!)
17. Midland, TX

19. San Antonio, TX
